Peaceful protest outside ICE Office in Downtown Phoenix
PHOENIX — Jan. 10, 2026
A peaceful but resolute protest formed early this morning outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office in Downtown Phoenix, adding the city’s voice to a growing nationwide outcry over the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis earlier this week.
Demonstrators lined the sidewalks of North Central Avenue, directly in front of the federal building at 2035 N. Central. The gathering began quietly in the morning but swelled significantly in size by 2:00 PM MST, with participants holding signs and waving American flags under the bright Arizona winter sun.

The mood remained largely peaceful throughout the day. Protesters held placards expressing sharp criticism of federal immigration policies and the specific circumstances of Good’s death. One prominent sign, featuring religious iconography, read "MISSING: JESUS LAST SEEN IN ICE RAID," while others drew stark political comparisons, including a banner stating "TRUMPISM IS FASCISM." Unlike some demonstrations that have seen clashes, today’s event in Phoenix was marked by a steady stream of support from passing traffic. A significant number of vehicles honked their horns in solidarity as they drove by the field office. The support extended beyond personal vehicles; drivers of the Valley Metro Light Rail and city buses were also heard honking their support for the demonstrators lining the route.

The protest comes just days after the controversial shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother and writer, who was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, January 7. Her death has sparked vigils and rallies across the country, with questions surrounding the use of force by federal agents intensifying after video footage of the encounter circulated online.
